🎓 What is JoSAA?

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is a centralized counseling body established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It manages and regulates the joint seat allocation for admissions to 127 institutes for the academic year 2025-26.

✅ Who is Applicable for JoSAA Counselling?

1. JEE Main Qualified Students (For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs):
   
   • Students who have cleared JEE Main 2025 and obtained a valid rank.
   • Includes General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and PwD categories.
   • Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent exam with the required percentage as per their category.
2. JEE Advanced Qualified Students (For IITs):
   
   • Students who have cleared JEE Advanced 2025 and obtained a valid rank.
   • Only top 2.5 lakh candidates (approximately) from JEE Main can appear for JEE Advanced.
   • Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent exam with the required percentage as per their category.
3. Foreign Nationals:
   
   • Students who are foreign nationals but have cleared JEE Advanced can apply for IITs under the Foreign Category.
4. Reservation Categories (As per Government Norms):
   
   • General-EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 10% of seats.
   • OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes – Non-Creamy Layer): 27% of seats.
   • SC (Scheduled Caste): 15% of seats.
   • ST (Scheduled Tribe): 7.5% of seats.
   • PwD (Persons with Disabilities): 5% horizontal reservation in each category.

❌ Who is Not Applicable for JoSAA Counselling?

1. Students Without a Valid JEE Main or JEE Advanced Score:
   
   • Those who did not appear for JEE Main or JEE Advanced 2025.
   • Those who appeared but did not qualify in either exam.
2. Candidates Looking for Admissions in Private Institutes:
   
   • JoSAA is only for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
   • Students aiming for private engineering colleges or other courses (like MBBS, BBA, BSc, Law) are not eligible.
3. Students Already Admitted Through Other Counselling:
   
   • Candidates who have already secured admission through other centralized counselling (like State Counselling or other private university counselling).
4. Students Not Meeting Academic Eligibility:
   
   • Students who do not meet the age criteria, minimum percentage in Class 12, or any other eligibility criteria specified by the JEE authorities.
5. Foreign Nationals Without JEE Advanced Score:
   
   • Foreign students who do not have a valid JEE Advanced score cannot apply for IITs.

1. Access the JoSAA Portal:

2. Login:
   
   • • Enter your JEE Main or JEE Advanced application number and password.
     • Verify the displayed personal information. Only contact details can be updated.
3. Choice Filling:
   
   • Select your preferred courses and institutes from the available options.
   • It’s advisable to fill in multiple choices to increase admission chances.
4. Choice Locking:
   
   • • After finalizing your choices, lock them before the deadline.
     • If you don’t lock your choices, the last saved choices will be automatically locked after the deadline.
     • Download and save a copy of your locked choices for future reference.
5. Mock Seat Allotment:
   
   • JoSAA conducts two mock allotments to help candidates understand the seat allocation process.
   • Based on mock results, you can modify your choices before final locking.
6. Seat Allotment Rounds:
   
   • JoSAA conducts multiple rounds of seat allotment.
   • After each round, check your allotment status on the JoSAA portal.
7. Seat Acceptance and Reporting:
   
   • If allotted a seat, you must:
     
     • Pay the seat acceptance fee online.
     • Upload required documents for verification.
     • Choose one of the following options:
       
       • Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and do not participate in further rounds.
       • Float: Accept the seat but wish to be considered for higher preferences in subsequent rounds.
       • Slide: Accept the seat and wish to be considered for higher preferences within the same institute.

8. Final Reporting:
   
   • After the final round, report to the allotted institute within the specified timeframe to complete admission formalities.
